Qatar and Kuwait Plan to Sign a Long-Term Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement

August 26, 2024

Qatar Energy and Kuwait Petroleum Corporation are preparing to sign a long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) sale and purchase agreement. About six days ago, five trade and energy sector sources told Reuters that Qatar Energy is in talks with Kuwait Petroleum Corporation to supply new long-term LNG to help meet Kuwait’s growing power generation demand.

Four sources indicated that the agreement would supply Kuwait with three million tons annually of seaborne fuel over 15 years from the North Field project, which is expected to start operations in 2026.
