TotalEnergies, the energy giant, has highlighted Qatar’s remarkable achievements in the solar energy sector, emphasizing the pivotal role of large-scale renewable energy projects in this success.

TotalEnergies announced that Qatar is preparing to significantly increase its solar power production capacity by the end of this year, thanks to the inauguration of the Ras Laffan and Mesaieed Industrial City plants, which will raise the country’s total production capacity to 1675 megawatts.

The Al Kharsaah Solar Power Plant has emerged as one of the most significant projects, enhancing Qatar’s position as a leader in renewable energy in the region.

This plant, the largest of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa, successfully covers approximately 10% of the local electricity demand.

Qatar’s interest in renewable energy extends beyond electricity production to other areas such as blue ammonia production. Doha is working on establishing the world’s largest blue ammonia plant, furthering its efforts in environmental and climate preservation.

The report attributed Qatar’s success in the solar energy field to well-studied plans and strategies set by the government, supported by substantial investments in renewable energy projects. Qatar stands as a regional model for transitioning to clean energy, having achieved significant milestones in a short period of time.
