Establishing a solar energy station in “Yemen” with Emirati funding

As part of the continuous support provided by the UAE to Yemen in various fields, a company specializing in clean energy revealed that the UAE has established a solar energy station in Shabwa Governorate.

It is considered the third station of its kind provided by the UAE to Yemen, and work on this new station has already begun after officials in the local authority in Shabwa signed the minutes of receiving the construction. This was done with the company that will implement the project and it was called the “Electromeca International Project.”

The station's production capacity will be about 53 megawatts, in addition to storage capacity, a conversion station, and high-tension lines with a length of about 19 kilometers.

The solar energy station was presented as a gift by the UAE to Yemen, and is considered a role model for renewable energy projects, and the station will encourage and establish many similar projects in various parts of the country.

During a speech he delivered on behalf of the local authority in the governorate, Shabwa Governorate Undersecretary Salem Al-Nasi praised the support provided by the UAE to Yemen. He stressed that the UAE always provides continuous and generous support to Shabwa Governorate in particular and Yemen in general.

The project is considered a wonderful role model for cooperation and joint coordination, in addition to supporting the efforts of the local authority to alleviate the suffering of citizens and achieve sustainable development while adhering to the highest quality standards in accordance with the contents of the implementation contract.

The implementation of the vital and important project for Shabwa Governorate has begun, and those responsible for it are doing everything in their power to complete it according to its specifications and specified time period.

The Yemeni authorities seek to find sustainable solutions to energy challenges in addition to enhancing cooperation with brotherly and friendly countries, with the United Arab Emirates at the forefront, with the aim of achieving sustainable development.

This is the third project of its kind being implemented with generous Emirati funding in the Yemeni governorates. It is a unique project with a production capacity of about 1,200 megawatts, and it comes within the sustainable strategic solutions developed by the UAE to end the problem of electricity outages in Yemen.
