“Aramco”: achieving zero carbon emissions by 2050

Saudi Aramco signed three memorandums of understanding with American companies to develop low-carbon energy.

Aramco confirmed in a statement the signing of the memorandums of understanding in the presence of the Saudi Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud, and the US Secretary of Energy, Jennifer Granholm.

The memorandums aim to strengthen cooperation with Aerocell, Spiritus and Ronde and achieve zero greenhouse gas emissions in Scope 1 and Scope 2 through all its assets by 2050. Aramco also wants to establish new low-carbon businesses in the field of energy.

In the same context, the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, discussed with the US Secretary of Energy the strengthening of cooperation and development in the field of renewable and clean energy in addition to critical minerals and mining. The memorandum includes enhancing aspects of cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the United States of America, especially in the areas of clean energy and critical minerals, in addition to discussing Increase exchange between the two countries.

The discussions led to encouraging investment in mining projects between Saudi Arabia and the United States of America, in addition to enhancing cooperation in the sustainable mining sector, which is in line with the goals of the Saudi Green Initiative, which aims to address the challenges of climate change in addition to protecting the environment and promoting sustainability.
