May 21, 2024

The Emirati capital, Abu Dhabi, is hosting the activities of the third session of the Electric Vehicles Exhibition and Conference (EVIS 2024), in the presence of high-level representatives of governments and the private sector, under the auspices of the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.

The Abu Dhabi Electric Vehicle Summit 2024 is an important platform to discuss the Middle East’s march towards sustainable transportation, and showcase the latest technologies and solutions in the field of electric vehicles.

The summit activities aim to promote the adoption of electric vehicles in the Middle East by showcasing the latest technologies and solutions in the field of electric vehicles, holding discussion sessions and workshops that bring together experts and interested parties from various sectors, and providing a platform for exchanging experiences and knowledge and building partnerships between various stakeholders.

Engineer Sherif Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure for Energy and Petroleum Affairs, stressed the UAE’s commitment to building a distinguished and sustainable global transportation system that is compatible with its goals for climate neutrality by 2050.

He pointed out the importance of joint cooperation between all parties to advance progress in technical solutions to remove carbon and accelerate the reduction of emissions in the transportation sector, one of the largest sources of greenhouse gas emissions.

It is noteworthy that the International Energy Agency’s report ranked the UAE second in the Middle East in terms of sales of electric vehicles in 2023. Its share reached 13% of total car sales in the country, with expectations of significant growth in this sector in the coming years.

Electric and hybrid vehicles currently constitute 3% of the total vehicles on the UAE’s roads, with increasing demand among consumers, which reflects society’s awareness of the importance of protecting the environment.
