The Norwegian company SCATEC continues its work on the solar power plant in Egypt, which has a gigawatt capacity to produce electricity.
This station aims to provide the clean electricity necessary to operate the aluminum complex in the Nag Hammadi region by the end of 2025.
The first phase produces 500 MW and will be completed at the end of 2025, while the other 500 MW is expected to be completed in June 2026.
This important project comes within the framework of Egypt's transition towards a green economy and expanding the uses of renewable energy, while adhering to environmental requirements for access to global markets.
In a related context, the Minister of Business Sector, Mahmoud Esmat, discussed with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway in Cairo, Hilde Klemtsdal, ways to enhance joint cooperation and investment opportunities in the field of new and renewable energy.
Details of implementing the solar power plant were discussed, including the power purchase agreement, economic and environmental studies, and financing.
This transformation aims to achieve sustainability and a clean environment, with a focus on the good carbon footprint of the products.
This approach reflects Egypt's commitment to competing in global markets. It exports about half of its production to foreign markets, especially European markets.
