“Ukraine” announces that the largest hydroelectric power stations have been severely damaged

March 24, 2024

Ukraine's largest hydroelectric power plants were hit by eight Russian missiles and seriously injured on Friday, the Kiev Prosecutor's Office confirmed.

The head of the War Crimes Department of the Prosecutor General's Office, Yuri Belousov, made statements to Ukrainian television confirming that the Dnipro power plant was hit eight times; Which led to the facility being put out of service as a result of the very serious news that befell the station.

The power production station is located in one of four regions that Russia announced its annexation to its territory, although it does not fully control it. The station also extends on the bank of the Dnipro River in the city of Zaporizhya (southeast).

Pictures published on social media platforms showed that the station dam caught fire early Friday, while Zaporizhya Governor Ivan Fedorov confirmed that the Russian bombing affected a bus traveling on the road next to the dam, killing the bus driver, who was 62 years old.

On Friday, the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy acknowledged that there had been damage to the facility, but despite that, it stressed that it was in control of the situation at the hydroelectric station, and that it did not face the risk of a collapse in the water dam.
