Kelso Solar Project: A major boost to renewable energy and the local economy

March 31, 2024

In a significant step towards integrating renewable energy into regional operations, Aravon Energy – a specialist in the development, ownership and operation of renewable energy – and Meta Platforms have signed two extensive Environmental Attribute Purchase Agreements (EAPA) for the Kelso Solar Project in Scott County, Missouri, USA.

The Kelso Solar Project is a mega project with a total capacity of 349 MW, and is expected to play an important role in supporting Meta's regional operations by providing 100% renewable energy.

Aravon will own and operate the Kelso Solar Project; Which strengthens its position as a leading company in the field of renewable energy.

The project's impact is not only limited to providing clean energy, but is expected to bring many economic benefits to the area adjacent to the power plant, including:
● Creating job opportunities: Providing more than 450 full-time jobs during the development phase, and providing five permanent jobs for ongoing operation and maintenance.
● Supporting the local economy: Land leases with local landowners are expected to generate millions of dollars in annual revenue, and over the course of its life the project is expected to distribute more than $34 million to local governments, with approximately $28 million allocated to schools in the region. The project's construction activities and ongoing operations will stimulate increased spending at local businesses, including stores, restaurants and hotels.

The Kelso Solar Project represents an important step towards a more sustainable future, by integrating renewable energy into regional operations and supporting the local economy.
