“Norway” tops the list of the most environmentally friendly countries in “Europe”

April 7, 2024

A recent study conducted by solar energy experts at Hemsol revealed that Norway tops the list of the most environmentally friendly countries in Europe, while other countries are striving to achieve their climate goals. Austria ranked second, followed by Finland, Iceland and Sweden, thanks to its focus on renewable energy, its reliance on public transport and recycling, and its ambitious plans to reduce carbon emissions.

Norway is distinguished by its significant use of renewable energy, its pledge to reach net zero emissions of carbon dioxide between 2045 and 2055, and its support for other countries in accessing clean energy and protecting tropical forests.

Austria stood out for its heavy reliance on public transportation, high recycling rates, and a recently passed strong climate law that aims to significantly reduce emissions by 2030 and 2050.

Finland has made important steps by implementing a strict climate law that aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2035.

Iceland is characterized by its low carbon dioxide emissions and extensive use of renewable energy, with ambitious plans to achieve carbon neutrality before 2040.

Sweden rounded out the top five thanks to its large forests and use of renewable energy, with plans to eliminate net greenhouse gas emissions by 2045.

These results provide a positive glimpse into Europe's efforts to achieve environmental sustainability goals, and encourage other countries to follow similar steps to protect the planet.
