DEWA issues the second technical guide for infrastructure works and enhances Dubai’s competitiveness

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (“Dewa”) has launched the second edition of the Technical Guide for No Objection Certificates for Infrastructure Projects, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the emirate’s competitiveness, facilitate doing business, and transform it into the smartest city in the world.

The second edition of the technical guide is a comprehensive reference for contractors, consultants and developers accredited by DEWA. It includes 67 types of infrastructure projects, an increase of 17 new types over the previous version. It also includes new electricity assets, standard standards for water assets, and updates to technical specifications and protection details.

The guide aims to facilitate and accelerate the mechanism of obtaining electricity and water services, in accordance with the best international standards of reliability, quality and efficiency. DEWA affirms its commitment to providing all the necessary capabilities and digital services that help consultants and contractors carry out their work with high efficiency.

This step comes within the framework of DEWA's keenness to keep pace with the emirate's economic prosperity and population increase, and to support Dubai's D33 Economic Agenda, which aims to double the size of the emirate's economy over the next ten years. DEWA confirms its ability to meet the growing demand for electricity and water services, as infrastructure projects continue to grow in Dubai.

During the two and a half years since its founding, DEWA has achieved global achievements that have enabled it to become one of the most distinguished institutions in its field. DEWA is one of the active partners in hosting the COP 28 global climate conference, and is a major contributor to achieving the goals of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the emirate’s strategy for carbon neutrality 2050.

DEWA continues to implement pioneering projects in the field of renewable energy, such as the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which has a production capacity of 950 megawatts. DEWA is also implementing a seawater desalination plant project using reverse osmosis technology in the Hasyan complex with a production capacity of 180 megawatts. One million gallons per day, which is the largest of its kind in the world.

DEWA represents a pioneering model in the field of facilitating doing business and enhancing the competitiveness of cities, and the issuance of the second technical guide for infrastructure works is an important step in DEWA’s journey towards achieving its goals and transforming Dubai into a globally advanced smart city.
