February 18, 2024

The International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC) was launched on Monday, February 12, 2024, at the Dhahran Exhibition Center “Expo Dhahran” in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and continued until February 14, with the participation of 250 companies and about 20,000 participants, and under the patronage of the Emir of the Eastern Province, Prince Saud bin Nayef.

The International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC) witnesses wide participation from local and international companies, and its sessions address various topics that enhance innovation in the field of petroleum technology.

Established in 2005, the International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC) is the leading multidisciplinary technical event in the Eastern Hemisphere, covering the scope of the conference program, technology-related industrial activities and relevant industrial issues facing experts in industry and management around the world.

The International Conference on Petroleum Technologies is sponsored by four industry organizations and associations: the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE), the Society for Discovery Geophysics (SEG), and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).

The International Petroleum Technologies Conference revolves around the dissemination of new and existing technologies, best practices and multidisciplinary activities that aim to emphasize the importance of the value chain and maximize the value of assets, knowledge, capabilities and basic rules of participating countries and global accession to sponsoring associations, through a group of multidisciplinary technologies.

The International Petroleum Technology Conference is managed by its Board of Directors, which consists of eight representatives from the four associations organizing the conference, and Aramco is the most important sponsor of this conference.

The most important outcomes of the conference are:

  • – Saudi Arabia enhances the role of petroleum technology within its economic diversification plans:
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is classified as the most important and largest petroleum country in the world, whether in terms of oil reserves, production, or exports, in addition to refining capacity. It strongly enhances the role of technology and artificial intelligence in the oil sector, within one of the constants of Vision 2030, but it strengthens the role of technology in the energy sector by adopting programs for the Fourth Industrial Revolution and artificial intelligence, and establishing the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in the city of Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, and it is considered the base from which technology and innovations are launched. To develop the company's ability to meet the world's energy needs reliably and sustainably.
  • – Armstrong International talks about energy efficiency and decarbonization through steam trap management.
  • – “Taqa” Company proposes specialized solutions for oil and petroleum electronics, and energy investments towards a stable global economy.
  • – Saudi Aramco discusses carbon capture solutions: integrating subsurface technologies, new approaches, and global initiatives.

What is new at the International Petroleum Technology Conference in Saudi Arabia this year is the Excellence in Project Integration Award, in light of the oil and gas industry’s move towards increasingly complex and capital-intensive projects. This award is given to a project that adds value to the industry, embodies strong teamwork and strong knowledge of geosciences. and acumen in reservoir and production engineering, assertive and controlled construction and distinguished facility engineering practices.
