Saudi Arabia to Build a New Wind Turbine Plant

July 17, 2024

Saudi media reported that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is close to signing an agreement with the largest wind turbine manufacturer in China to build a new plant aimed at enhancing renewable energy production in the Kingdom through the localization of supply chains.

The anticipated agreement will be between the Saudi Public Investment Fund and Vision Industries, a private company specializing in renewable energy equipment. The plant will manufacture and assemble wind turbine components, including blades, with an estimated annual capacity of up to 4 gigawatts. RELC will own 40% of the partnership, while Envision will own 50%, and Vision Industries will retain the remaining 10%.

The Chinese company Envision is already active in Saudi Arabia, investing billions of dollars in renewable energy sources. Envision will supply wind turbines to NEOM Green Hydrogen Company, which uses solar and wind energy to produce clean hydrogen.
