The Sharara field, one of Libya’s largest oil-producing areas, has reduced its output due to force majeure conditions caused by protests by the Fezzan Movement.

The Libyan National Oil Corporation announced in a statement that it has started partial production cuts at the field. The corporation urged the concerned parties to consider the national interest and support its efforts to stabilize and increase production.

The internationally recognized Libyan government condemned the attempts to shut down the Sharara oil field, describing them as “political blackmail.” The Sharara field, with a production capacity of about 300,000 barrels per day, is a frequent target of protesters for various political reasons.
