The UAE’s Vertiglob Wins to Supply Europe with Renewable Ammonia

July 14, 2024

The UAE Company Vertiglob announced that it has won a contract to supply renewable ammonia to the European Union within the H2Global pilot auction, an initiative funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection.

According to the statement issued, Vertiglob, in strategic partnership with ADNOC Group and OCI Global, is committed to supplying quantities of renewable ammonia starting from approximately 19,500 tons in 2027, with the possibility of increasing these quantities to up to 397,000 tons by 2033, based on a price of one thousand euros per ton.

The company’s win of the contract is important; it is a major achievement that strengthens its position in the sustainable ammonia market and supports the final investment decisions for Egypt’s green hydrogen project in the first half of 2025, Ahmed Al-Hoshi, CEO of Vertiglob, confirmed.

Our victory reflects our leadership in providing low-carbon products and our commitment to creating a more sustainable future, Al-Hoshi added, praising the efforts made by the Vertiglob team to achieve this success.

The company will work to invest in a program that supports the economics of their investments in renewable ammonia and carbon emissions reduction technologies while maintaining their growth strategy, Al-Hoshi explained.

This contract is part of Germany’s efforts to accelerate the adoption of renewable hydrogen and aims to support energy security and reduce emissions in Europe while contributing to reducing carbon emissions equivalent to the annual emissions of about 62,000 cars.
